INSTITUT FIR BIOLOGËSCH LANDWIRTSCHAFT AN AGRARKULTUR LUXEMBURG (IBLA)

The “Institut fir Biologësch Landwirtschaft an Agrarkultur Luxemburg” (Institute for Organic Agriculture and Agrarian Culture Luxembourg) stands for competence in the field of organic agriculture and viticulture in Luxembourg. Its work focuses on linking research and practice, experience and innovation, consultancy, further training and knowledge transfer. The IBLA offers winegrowers and farmers a competent risk and opportunity assessment before, during and after the conversion period to organic, but also advises on selective organic measures on a conventional farm. As an important contact in Luxembourg for the cultivation and use of legumes, it answers questions on soil fertility, variety testing, species-appropriate animal husbandry and optimisation of crop rotation.

The Institute’s nine demonstration farms regularly host, among other things, visits, field inspections, farm festivals and practice days, which give all stakeholders in the organic sector, but also interested laypeople, insights into the many facets of the organic production cycle.

In cooperation with European and national institutions, IBLA is involved in numerous research projects on topics such as the protection of natural resources (water, soil, climate), biodiversity or sustainability assessment. The Institute regularly publishes information brochures and fact sheets.
