A full 41 per cent of the food prepared in the canteen of the Maison Relais Bous in 2021 came from organic farming. Of course, buying organic products has an impact on the price of the menu in the canteen: in the Maison Relais Bous, which is run by the Asbl elisabeth – Anne, the price of a meal made from products from conventional farming was 3,50 euros in 2021. A meal with an average share of 41 percent organic ingredients cost 3,85 euros. To make up this difference, the Ministry of Agriculture, Viticulture and Rural Development has awarded the Asbl elisabeth – Anne a subsidy of 10.000 euros. In the course of this successful pilot project, the Asbl elisabeth – Anne intends to offer meals with organic ingredients in all its care structures in 2022.

By 2025, 50 per cent of the products in the community catering should come from Luxembourg agriculture: 2/5 of them from organic production and 3/5 from local farming. This is one of the goals of the National Action Plan for the Promotion of Organic Agriculture “PAN-BIO 2025”.
