WINE INSTITUTE (IVV)
Winegrowers in Luxembourg have been cultivating organic wine since 1995 under the motto “quality before quantity”. Demand is rising steadily and more and more wineries are taking the plunge. There are premiums for environmentally friendly cultivated areas with moderation and organic pest control of the grape berry moth is intensively promoted.
The Wine Institute is an important testing and inspection institution; it conducts applied research and is the point of contact for the initial and further training of winegrowers, especially for sustainable viticulture. Within the framework of agricultural policy, the Wine Institute manages the vineyard parcels and checks the allocation of various state subsidies as well as the premiums of the EU funding programmes in viticulture.
